Molluscum Contagiosum is a relatively common viral infection of the skin that results in round, firm, painless bumps ranging in size from a pinhead to a pencil eraser. It is most common in children, especially those who experience eczema or dry skin and is spread from direct person-to-person contact or through contact with contaminated surfaces. The bumps associated with Molluscum Contagiosum usually disappear within a year without treatment, but doctor-assisted removal can be performed to speed up the process.
