About Dr. Jetter

Nathan Jetter, MD, is a board-certified dermatologist and Mohs surgeon seeing patients at Clear Choice Dermatology’s Federal Way and Tacoma locations. He holds dual board certifications from the American Board of Dermatology in Dermatology and Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery and provides comprehensive Mohs surgery and medical dermatology care, with particular interests in field cancerization and atopic dermatitis.

Dr. Jetter’s path to medicine began with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Northwestern University, followed by several years working in finance at McKinsey & Company and Coghill Capital Management. He later transitioned to medicine, earning his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago, where he was a Raymond Nester Sweeney Academic Scholar and received the Excellence in Clinical Dermatology Award for top performance among medical students. He completed a transitional year internship at Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois, before returning to the University of Illinois for his dermatology residency. During residency, he served as Chief Resident of the Veterans Affairs Dermatology Clinic.

Dr. Jetter has continued to combine clinical practice with research and education. He has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in journals including the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Journal of Clinical Dermatology, and Pediatric Dermatology, with research interests spanning field cancerization, atopic dermatitis, and surgical techniques. He has presented his work at national and regional meetings, including the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery Annual Meeting and the San Francisco Dermatology Society Annual Meeting. His commitment to education extends to teaching family medicine residents, medical students, and dermatology residents as a preceptor and guest lecturer.

Beyond his clinical and academic work, Dr. Jetter is passionate about community service and patient advocacy. Since 2013, he has volunteered with the National Eczema Association in a variety of roles, including co-leading an eczema support group with Dr. Peter Lio and serving on its Board of Directors. During residency, he volunteered as a dermatologist at the New Life Volunteering Society Free Clinic, and before medical school, he was a founding board member of Feeding Children Everywhere, a nonprofit focused on providing meals to families in need.
