Melanoma
The most serious form of skin cancer. Early detection makes the biggest difference in outcome of anything we treat.
About the Condition
Melanoma develops in pigment-producing cells and can spread if not caught early. We use the ABCDE rule and dermatoscope examination to evaluate suspicious moles, and biopsy promptly when needed.

Symptoms To Watch For (the ABCDE Rule)
- A (Asymmetry): one half of the mole doesn’t match the other
- B (Border): edges that are irregular, ragged, or blurred
- C (Color): uneven shades of brown, black, red, white, or blue
- D (Diameter): larger than a pencil eraser (about 6 mm)
- E (Evolving): any change in size, shape, or color
When to See a Doctor: any mole that's changing, asymmetric, has irregular borders or uneven color, or is larger than a pencil eraser needs a prompt exam. Don't wait.
