Mohs Surgery
The gold-standard skin cancer procedure: precise, layer-by-layer removal with the highest cure rate of any treatment.
What To Expect
Mohs surgery removes cancer one thin layer at a time, examining each layer under a microscope on the spot, so only cancerous tissue is removed, sparing as much healthy skin as possible.
Good to know: most Mohs procedures are done in a single day, and patients return to normal activity within a few days to a week.
How It Works
1. Remove
A thin layer of tissue is removed under local anesthesia.
2. Examine
The layer is examined on-site under a microscope.
3. Repeat or Close
Repeated until margins are clear, then the wound is closed.
